The main highlights for ch. 9 were as followed:
Learning how to become an active reader by
9.a previewing a text, including previewing a book and periodical articles. Glancing at the table of contents and index as well as the introductory and concluding paragraphs will reveal the amount of information that is import to you as the reader.
9.b highlighting a text, by underlining material to read over again, and highlighing key phrases and passages this is will help out what is important information to you. making a checklist could also be beneficial, such things like putting question marks by confusing passages, connecting ideas with lines and arrows drawing vertical lines in the margin to set off an important section of text, and star especially important ideas.
9.c annotatinng a text, this is done by reading the text a second time and being more critical about it, mark things that are important by recording your responses to what you read.
